Madison, a senior at Clarksburg School in Clarksburg, TN, received the $500 scholarship during a surprise ceremony held at her high school. She was nominated by her teacher and FCCLA advisor, Amanda Branson, who says Madison’s talents and accomplishments throughout her high school career make her stand out among her peers.
“Madison may be what many call a little person, but in Clarksburg, Tennessee, there is nothing little about this young lady’s drive and determination for success,” Branson said. “She has the strongest work ethic and the biggest heart of any student I have ever had in the classroom.”
An exceptional performer in academics, Madison serves on her school’s student council, is a FCCLA officer, and is an active member in FFA. She has competed in several local, regional and state-level FCCLA competitions, and was the FCCLA senior level creed district winner in 2009 and 2010. She has also devoted more than 120 hours of community service, earning the Distinguished 40 Hours of Service Award three years in a row.
Madison is currently enrolled in the Tennessee Scholars program, a rewards and recognition program, and is one of the few students who will be recognized by Governor Bill Haslam upon high school graduation. She plans to attend Union University to continue her education.
